Editor’s note: This blog post was written by the team at Charles River Laboratories .

Charles River Laboratories is dedicated to technological advancement

Since 2012, NodeConf EU has carved out its reputation as the best Node.js event in Europe. Over the years, it has transformed from a promising newcomer to a powerhouse that attracts developers, architects, engineers, and thought leaders from more than 30 countries worldwide.

This year, Charles River Laboratories is delighted to renew its sponsorship for NodeConf EU. This collaboration signifies more than just financial support; it represents Charles River's dedication to technological advancement, seeking innovative solutions to the challenges of our time.

In line with this spirit of innovation, Charles River is proud to have two of its Technical Leaders from the Architecture and Engineering Group, John Allen and Patty O'Callaghan, as speakers at NodeConf EU. Both will shed light on AI and security, reinforcing Charles River's position at the vanguard of tech innovation.

John Allen: Deciphering the confluence of Node and OAuth2

In today’s online world, keeping information safe is more important than ever. Data breaches, where personal or confidential information is exposed, are unfortunately common. John Allen will be hosting a session to help users understand how to better protect online services and information. The session, titled “Node X OAuth2 – What You Need to Know to Protect Your Services,” will be an in-depth guide on how to make online interactions and data more secure using the industry-norm oAuth authorisation standard.

In simple terms, John will talk about ‘authentication’ - the process that verifies who we are online. Many services outsource this process to third-party platforms, but not everyone understands how these platforms work. John aims to explain this process in simple terms, making it more understandable for everyone.

In the session, participants will get a closer look at how these third-party platforms operate. They will also get hands-on experience by setting up a basic authentication system using the popular framework ‘Fastify’. This way, attendees will gain practical skills and knowledge that they can use to make their online services more secure.

Patty O'Callaghan: Empowering secure AI innovation with Langchain JS

Artificial Intelligence holds incredible promise in the tech world, offering endless possibilities and innovations. However, using AI often comes with concerns, particularly when it comes to keeping our data private and secure. Patty O'Callaghan will be leading a workshop, "Unlocking the Power of AI: Private Conversations with Your Docs Using Langchain JS," to address these concerns and show how we can use AI safely and effectively.

In this workshop, Patty will introduce Langchain JS, a tool that allows the use of AI while keeping data private. Patty’s session is not just about theory; it’s about giving participants real, practical experience. Attendees will have the chance to create a working application, applying the concepts and techniques they learn during the workshop. Patty aims to give participants a complete and engaging learning experience, ensuring they can confidently use AI while prioritising data privacy.
