What to Expect?
If you are a Node.js developer looking to gain recognition for your expertise, or a hiring manager interested in acquiring specialized skills, this short read will give you insight into what to expect from the certification.
David Mark Clements, Principal Architect at NearForm, has been technical lead and primary author on both certifications. In this introduction to the certification program, he outlines the driving principles used to create the certifications, along with the purpose and general theme of each examination.
The availability of certification is a big milestone for the node.js project. We now have formal materials and exams available which will support the next wave of adoption of node.js in the enterprise. We’re proud of the work all of the partners have put into making this happen.
What we value
The exams focus on the skills required to be a successful Node.js developer today. Conducted online, the exams will take two hours each, consisting of performance-based items to be solved on a command line. Candidates will purchase, schedule, and sit for each exam separately, and receive an independent and verifiable certification based upon the exams they pass. Candidates may choose to take either the OpenJS Node.js Services Developer exam, the OpenJS Node.js Application developer exam, or both.
