Last week, NearForm hosted a virtual WFH conference which saw 1,745 attendees join in to watch live talks over 24 hours. Speakers shared their expert advice on a wide range of topics including technology innovation, productivity and wellbeing, web development and a host of tips and recommendations on how to get the most of working from home.
The WFH conference was engineered by James Snell who recognised the need for the global tech community to continue collaborating and sharing ideas, despite the sudden cancellation of many conferences and meet-ups worldwide.
The WFH conference was streamed live on Twitch with a new presenter joining in via video link every 30 minutes and a live Q&A via Chat.
The 24-hour live WFH conference kicked off with a talk from Phil Nash, Developer evangelist for Twilio on Fantastic Passwords and Where to Find Them. There were a variety of talks on optimising web platforms and digital innovations with open source technologies & approaches thanks to Luca Maraschi Chief Architect at TELUS Digital, Kate Bolin from Eco Web Hosting and Zbyszek Tenerowicz Ecosystem Technical Lead at Egnyte to mention a few.

The audience of the WFH conference was offered plenty of practical advice on how to best work from home with tips on remote teamwork, communication, wellness and collaboration. With plenty of newcomers to remote-working across the world, advice on available tools and changing habits was welcomed by many of the attendees.
We were provided with invaluable insights for today’s working practices from speakers including Kristi DePaul CEO of Founders and Jeanie Chang a Licensed Clinician and Founder of Your Change Provider and a glimpse into how to make it work while ‘tiny living’ was presented by Carol Chen, Production Engineering Intern at Shopify. Tips on how to improve our daily communications were offered by Lorenzo Barbieri Cloud Wizard at Microsoft and Verity Harrison of Think Doodly and an insight into what makes a successful remote worker finished off the conference proceedings thanks to Rowena Hennigan at RoRemote.

Of course, no WFH conference could go without taking a break so during the 24-hour conference the audience was treated to a workout with Lynne Ward from Pepper Hustle Method!
